Definition (Five-Number Summary) The five-number summary of a set of numbers consists of the five quantities – Minimum – 1st quartile – Median – 3rd quartile – Maximum These five numbers divide the set of numbers into four groups of equal size, each containing one-fourth of the set.

The min and Max are the smallest and largest values in the data. The Median is the middle most value in the data – This will divide the data into 2 halves Q 1 is the median of the lower half of the data (the Median of the data is not in either half) Q 3 is the median of the upper half of the data
