Highlights NGS no longer requires states with Geodetic Advisors to pay for use of equipment. Geodetic Advisors are receiving complete training in CBL data reduction, helping to insure maintenance of this core capability. Calibration Baseline Program The “zero” mark at the Corbin Calibration Baseline.

Primary Concern The equipment is approximately 25 years old and needs to be updated. The FY06 Corbin budget includes the purchase of two Leica TC2003 total stations, data collectors, and new prisms to modernize the program. The “zero” mark at the Corbin Calibration Baseline. 6 GPS Antenna Test Piers at Corbin. HighLights Installation of T1-line near completion. Having this capability will greatly enhance the transfer of test results to HQ and will allow for possible website updates from Corbin.

GPS Antenna Test Piers at Corbin. Concerns No backup of core capability. If Richard were to leave - the program would come to an immediate halt. Test equipment is approaching twenty years old. The FY06 Corbin budget includes the purchase of three replacement of two GPS receivers to modernize the program.

Catch Richard’s presentation on GPS Antenna Calibrations this Thursday in the Grant Room, during the 3:00 to 4:30 time slot for the Specs,Guidelines & Tools focus group.

NOAA has sent a letter of intent to the USGS regarding transfer of the Fredericksburg Geomag Observatory back to the National Geodetic Survey. The ball is in the court of the USGS, but I am hopeful that this property transfer will occur by the end of 06.

With this transfer the NGS will have an ideal setting, with ample indoor and outdoor space, to meet our present and future training needs.

This transfer will also include substantial storage possibilities.
