To Do Stoichiometry.
2
To do Stoichiometry is easy first find a problem !
3
What mass of IF 5 is produced when 4.687g of SF 4 reacts with 6.281g of I 2 O 5 to produce IF 5 and SO 2 ?
4
What is the first step? A.Convert Atoms to moleculesConvert Atoms to molecules B.Examine the letters on the pageExamine the letters on the page C.Balance the equationBalance the equation
5
If you said balance the equation you are right! SF 4 + I 2 O 5 -> IF 5 + SO 2 Balance it to: 5SF 4 + 2I 2 O 5 -> 4IF 5 + 5SO 2
6
Sorry that answers wrong Back to questionquestion
7
Next Step! Remember that you put what needs to be canceled on the bottom and what your trying to find on the top. So what are we trying to find and canceling out: A.moles, grams B.funds, peoplefunds, people C. Atomic mass, gramsAtomic mass, grams
8
WRONG! Back to questionquestion
9
Get the mass of: SF 4 = 108.065 I 2 O 5 = 333.8 IF 5 = 221.9 How would you find this? Just take the atomic mass and multiply it by what ever the coefficient is attached to the element in the problem then add um all up!!
10
Lets start with 4.687g SF 4 4.687g
11
Cancel Grams and move on to moles
12
Test your memory! For the last problem we need to know the total amount of IF 5 in order to find the grams A. 667.7 667.7 B. 221.9 C. 78.09 78.09
13
Were you listening?? Smh :/ Back to the question !
14
Divide or multipl?? Multiply top and then bottom: Top4.687 x1x 4 x 221.9 Bottom108.065 x 5 x 1
15
So here we are so far…. 4.687g
16
This is it! 221.9 divided by 540.325 = 7.7 SOOOOO 7.7 IF 5 is produced when 4.687g of SF 4
17
Now 6.281g of I 2 O 5 5SF 4 + 2I 2 O 5 -> 4IF 5 + 5SO 2 Remember* grams _______ x ________x________
18
A different look at it
19
No No No you try it! Here WE GO!
20
A different look at it
21
Did you get-? A. 5575.0156 grams IF 5 5575.0156 grams IF 5 B. 8.35 grams IF 5 C. 768 mol IF 6 768 mol IF 6 *hint: Round!
