Take quiz and turn in to Ms. Stokes Migration- Using a format of a brochure to give to a 6 th grader. Explain how migration of birds affects the production of fruits in the United States. Answer questions on the 3 slide of this PPT. Give a reflection of your recipe lab. Must be half a page.

What will happen if Kansas and Missouri farmers choose to not farm corn. Will that change the berries offered by local farmers? Create your brochure for 6 th graders with the above information.

5 Drupes- A type of fruit that has One large pit or seed and Grows on trees Ex: Cherries, peaches

6 Pomes- a type of fruit that has a core That contains seeds and groups on Trees. Ex: Apples, pears

7 Citrus Fruit: a type of Fruit that has a leathery skin, many segment filled with juicy pellets and grows on trees ex: Pink grapefruit, lemons, limes, oranges, tangerines

8 Berries: small, juicy fruits that contain many tiny seeds. Ex: Blackberries, blueberries, Cranberries, currants, grapes, raspberries, strawberries

9 Melons: large, moist fruits that Grow on vines and contain Seeds. They have a thick skin That may be smooth or rough. Ex.cantaloupes, honeydew, watermelon

10 Tropical fruit: a type that grows only in warm, sunny Climates. Ex. Avacadoes**, bananas, Breadfruit, coconuts, dates, Figs, kiwi, mangos, papaya, passion fruit, pineapples, starfruit

11 Produce: Fresh fruits and Vegetables Name two places during the Spring and Summer months you Can buy fresh produce?

12 *** This is a knife skill lab You will need to be trained by Ms. Stokes to Create this lab**** Apple upside down cake Preheat oven to 350 Spray round cake pan 2 Granny Smith apples slice fan out around the edges of pan In a bowl combine the following, then microwave for 15 seconds: 4 T Butter ¾ C brown sugar 2 T apple juice ¼ t cinnamon ½ C light corn syrup Pour ½ of the melted mixture onto of the apples, reserve the remaining for later. Cake: ¾ C vegetable oil 1 C Brown sugar 2 T Apple juice 2 eggs 1 t cinnamon ½ t salt Mix to combine, then add: 1 t baking soda 1 ½ C flour 1 grated apple Combine all ingredents and pour over sliced apples. Bake for 50 mins. Pour remaining caramel mixture over cake.
