Patient Line Prime

In summary, there are two primes that must be completed: 1.The system prime, which the Belmont will do automatically after you spike some fluid and press “prime.” 2.The patient line prime that you will have to watch and stop when it is complete.

After the patient line is primed, press STOP, connect the patient line to the patient, and then press INFUSE to start the infusion.

The top four squares show rate of the infusion, the volume infused, the temperature of the fluid, and the system pressure.

The default infusion rate is 10 ml/min (600 ml/hr).

Simply press the infusion rate up or infusion rate down to increase or decrease the rate of infusion. Hold down on the rate to increase or decrease rapidly. Alternatively press the 500 ml/min to deliver at that rate.

In a trauma, simply infuse by pressing “rate up” or “rate down” (hold down to increase/decrease rate rapidly), or press 500 ml/min. Stop, will stop the Infusion.

When giving blood, do NOT use Lactated Ringers. Instead, use Plasma-Lyte or Normal Saline (for patients withTBI). Hespan and albumin are also compatible.

Do not give platelets or cryoprecipitate through the Belmont.

The rest of this presentation is useful, and informational, but not necessary for you to know in order to transfuse with the Belmont in a trauma. The previous slides are all that you need to know to use the Belmont in a trauma.

The default bolus is 200 ml. Press “BOLUS 200 ml” to deliver a 200 ml bolus.

To give a 500 ml bolus, press “BOLUS 200 ml” and then the “500 ml/min rate.” Shows the volume of Bolus infused

Change the bolus rate by holding “BOLUS 200 ml” until the “BOL =“ reaches the desired amount.
