3 Before You Send Out Your Applications Make sure that you have completed all sections. Proofread everything one last time. Make sure you send the right materials to the right school. Make sure you have enough postage and that it is postmarked on time. Make a copy of all materials (or print a copy) for yourself.

4 While You Wait Relax! If you don’t get a reply within a few weeks, call the admissions office to check on the status of your application. Decide where you will go if you get accepted. Fill out your financial aid paperwork. Talk to your family and friends to update them.

5 Once You Get a Reply Acceptance: Weigh the pros and cons if you get into more than one school. Reply before the deadline. If not you may lose your place! If possible, visit the campus. Send your deposit in a timely manner to ensure your admission.

6 Once You Get a Reply Rejection: If you feel devastated, talk about your feelings with someone and decide on a backup plan. Call the admissions office and ask why your application was rejected. If you are wait-listed, send a letter expressing your desire to attend. Try applying for the following semester if you are set on going to that school.

7 Strategies For College Success College is for learning, not partying. Find a balance between your old life and new life. Set rules for yourself. No one is there to supervise you. Remember that you are paying to be there. Make it worth your while! Make a schedule and stick to it. Plan time for tv, studying, friends, etc.

8 Strategies for College Success Don’t try to take on too much at once. Give yourself time to adjust. New experiences take time to get used to. Call home often! Your family will miss you. See your advisor often to keep on track. Have fun!
