How to Write an SAQ The basics: Use complete sentences Write 2-3 sentences per question (there are 3 questions – A, B, C) Don’t label questions A, B, C OR write one long paragraph. Answer part A (not labeled); skip a line then answer part B; skip a line then answer part C Stay inside the box

How to Write an SAQ The Nitty Gritty Use SPECIFIC pieces of evidence – VOCABULARY. EXPLAIN (probably more than you think you do): Don’t just say A causes B or A is a result of B. You need to be specific by saying HOW A causes B or HOW A is a result of B.

How to Write an SAQ Examples NO: The Enlightenment caused the Great Awakening. YES: The Enlightenment ideals caused individuals to think more rationally and question religious institutions. Consequently, the colonies shifted away from the religious fanaticism that characterized them during their founding. As a result of this preachers like George Whitefield used religious evangelism the push forward the Great Awakening that encouraged colonists to move back towards religion.
