2. Motivation oneM2M has already started activities for the next release oneM2M needs to to have a concrete plan for Rel-2 at this early stage. In particular, it would be very helpful if oneM2M could have some high level consensus on the duration of Rel-2. With this kind of consensus each member company can make their own plan e.g., which required features, resources.

Proposing Plan for Rel-2 Option 1: 12 months duration – January to July/early August: work on candidate release – August: candidate release – End of December/January: announcement of stable release, start of new release Option 2: 18 months duration – Y1.January to Y1.December: work on candidate release – Y2.January: candidate release – Y2.May/June: announcement of stable release, start of new release Option 3: short gift release – Every six months
