Please write your HW in your agenda. Update your table of contents: Write the date and “The Nature of Science” at the top of page 2. On page 2 respond in no more than 3 lines: What does it mean to “do science?” Page #Title 1Class Syllabus 2-3The Nature of Science

Do not touch, turn, lift, or open the cube. With your group, write questions that you have about the cube on page 2.

You must propose an answer to this question by presenting evidence that supports your claim. › Evidence refers to the observations that your group can make about the visible sides of the cube. Write your observations down on page 2. Once you have agreed on a conclusion write it below your observations. **Be prepared to share your conclusion and evidence with the class. **

Please take a guided notes sheet from the front cart and glue/tape it in on page 3. Remember to use only a little glue so you can still write on the sheet without a mess!

Science originates in questions about the world. Science uses observations to construct explanations (answers to the questions). Scientists make their explanations public through presentations at meetings and journals. Scientists present their explanations and critique the explanations proposed by other scientists.

On an index card, write: › 1 piece of information you learned › 1 piece of information that you found interesting › 1 question about today’s lesson or what we learned
