6. Review of ESF P&T Standards P&T Standards require the CRC (a.k.a. the P&T Committee) to review the standards every three years. Current standards have: (1) readability, consistency, and concision issues, (2) logical flow and placement of ideas issues, and (3) inconsistencies and conflicts. Review Process: Fall 2013 6 two hour meetings of P&T Committee. 6 two hour meetings of P&T Committee with Provost. Reached consensus on how to improve the existing Standards. Spring 2014 January 22 nd Faculty Governance meeting: Distributed draft revised standards and memo summarizing changes to faculty members. Feb. and March: Held 3 Q&A meetings with faculty members. Spring and Fall 2014 Revised draft standards based on faculty members’ comments, to improve readability and usability, and to address some concerns. 6

7. New P&T Standards The President and Provost have adopted the new P&T standards. The new standards will be effective March 31, 2015. Will cover all P&T actions initiated by non-librarian faculty holding academic rank on the Syracuse campus after that date. Next steps: New P&T standards will be sent to faculty members, along with a copy of January 22, 2014 memo describing the major and minor changes and additions in the new standards. In accordance with the new standards, CRC chair will conduct three information meetings in January and February. Faculty considering applying for Promotion and/or Continuing Appointment.
