2.  Age of mammals. -After the extinction of dinosaurs the early mammals came about. -Later the mammals evolved into homosapians. - Mammals which were small mouse-like mammals in the beginning of the Cenozoic era quickly spread out and diversified. Humans - Appeared during the last 2 million years. - Humans became the dominant life form and more numerous than any other life form. - We are the current life form called homo sapiens.

4. o Mountain formation - Himalayas During the last 65 million years Pangea split, India moved across the Indian ocean colliding with Asia resulting with a subduction zone creating the Himalaya Mountains. o - Andes and Rocky Mountains The pressure from the plates moving west caused the western coast to crumble creating the rocky and Andes Mountains.

5.  The Cenozoic Era is a period of long term cooling. -The cooling started when Antarctica split and created a cold ocean current that began to freeze everything over. It brought cool Antarctic water to the surface.  Ice Age! - 1/3 of the earth was frozen over. - The earth started heating up again and the ice began to melt separating the continents. Global Warming. -Scientists think Global Warming occurred because of ocean currents changing.

6.  The Cenozoic Era produced the largest land mammal of all time. The 25 foot long Indricotherium weighed more than 5 elephants and roamed all over Asia until it became extinct 20 million years ago. - Indricotherium: The basilosaurus was an early relative of modern humpback whales. The other two are words I made up.  YOU are in the Cenozoic era RIGHT now!
