1 Applications 1.Project a slide, as the thought for the day, as student enter the classroom. 2.Use an appropriate slide to start the day’s lesson. 3.Use a slide as a starting point for a discussion on appropriate work place behavior (self-improvement, etc.) 4.Once a week have students write a 250 word paragraph based on the day’s quote. (Expand the learning by asking students to get a word count and put it at the bottom of their essay. Have them agree or disagree with the quote; or give a personal illustration. (Document this assignment as practice for standardized testing.) 5.Assign students to take the quote and make it into a poster with their choice of an appropriate graphic and text. Post the best designs and let the class vote on the most outstanding poster, then award bonus points to the creator. 6.Have students find four more similar quotes and create a poster using them. Posters must include a title, graphics, word art, and/or text formatting. Advanced word art or formatting techniques should be required if used later in the school year.
