Our status God’s wrath You and me

Our status God’s wrath You and me God’s grace You and me GOD CHANGED OUR STATUS Made right with God

There is now NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus !!!!!!

Already saved by grace In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding Eph 1 v 7 It is by grace you have been saved through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works so that no-one can boast Eph 2 v 8

We will all be judged You then why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? Don’t you know we will all stand before the judgement seat of God…and we will all give an account of ourselves before God Rom 14 v 10 & 12 For I tell you men will have to give an account of themselves before God for every careless word they have spoken. Matt 12 v 36

But If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man’s work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames. 1 Cor 3 v 12 - 15

So what is Stewardship?  Gk epitropos, manager  Epi = above, over  Tropos = a way, a character, a style, a mode oikonomos, overseer  Oikos= family  Nomos = to parcel out, protect, separate Mentioned 5 times in OT and 7 times in NT

Christian Stewardship Our responsibility today Is a way of life in which we regard ourselves and our possessions as a trust from God to be used in His service as a response to what He has done for us

Bible review 1 Peter 4 v 10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms (NIV)

Bible review Romans 12 v 4 – 8 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many form one body, and each part belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, then lead diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Bible review Luke 16 v 1 – 8 1Jesus told his disciples: "There was a rich man whose manager was accused of wasting his possessions. 2So he called him in and asked him, 'What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your management, because you cannot be manager any longer.' 3"The manager said to himself, 'What shall I do now? My master is taking away my job. I'm not strong enough to dig, and I'm ashamed to beg— 4I know what I'll do so that, when I lose my job here, people will welcome me into their houses.' 5"So he called in each one of his master's debtors. He asked the first, 'How much do you owe my master?' 6" 'Eight hundred gallons of olive oil,' he replied. "The manager told him, 'Take your bill, sit down quickly, and make it four hundred.' 7"Then he asked the second, 'And how much do you owe?' " 'A thousand bushels of wheat,' he replied. "He told him, 'Take your bill and make it eight hundred.' 8"The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the people of the light. 9I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings. 10"Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. 11So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? 12And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else's property, who will give you property of your own? 13"No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money." 14The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and were sneering at Jesus. 15He said to them, "You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but God knows your hearts. What is highly valued among men is detestable in God's sight.

Christian Stewardship Our responsibility today Is a way of life in which we regard ourselves and our possessions as a trust from God to be used in His service as a response to what He has done for us

Bible Review 2 Tim 1 v 14 So keep at your work, this faith and love rooted in Christ, exactly as I set it out for you. It's as sound as the day you first heard it from me. Guard this precious thing placed in your custody by the Holy Spirit which works in us.

Summary Motivated by what He has done for us We are stewards and transformers A ‘Doing’ people Different gifts are given to different stewards We go first then God actively helps us THIS REALLY IS A LIFE WORTH LIVING! No gift is better than another

Idyllwild 2008 A Life Worth Living Session 5 Our Responsibilities Part 2

This week Our situation Our status Our response Our responsibilities And in conclusion

Luke 12 v 8 & 9 I tell you, whoever acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God. But he who disowns me before men will be disowned before the angels of God

John 20 v 21 Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you."

Acts 8 v 31 “How can I," he (Ethiopian eunuch) said, "unless someone explains it to me?" So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

2 Corinthians 5 v 19 …that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

Col 4 v 5 - 6 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

Romans 10 v 14 - 15 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

2 Tim 4 v 2 Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.

1 Peter 3 v 15 But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect

Our Responsibilities - Actions Personal preaching

Some practical help to personal preaching Raising the flag What do Christadelphians believe? Ask a brother and sister – provoke one another into good works Preaching starts on your knees not on your feet Positive “I” not “they”

Our Responsibilities - Actions Personal preaching Personality

Our Responsibilities - Actions Personal preaching Personality Circumstances

Our Responsibilities - Actions Personal preaching Personality Circumstances-Husbands -Wives -Slaves -Masters -Old -Young

Our Responsibilities - Actions Personal preaching Personality Circumstances Money

It is not yours Don’t deceive yourself

Some interesting principals NOTBUT 10% is God’s100% is God’s Give what is left Give what is right Give until it hurts Give until it feels good What do I need to giveHow may my giving reflect what God has given to me God looks at the heart not at the hand

So if you have not been trustworthy in handling wordly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? Luke 16 v 11

We have been given much The Gospel Our personality Our circumstances Wealth And much will be expected of us…..
