1 Fundamentals of Art Color Symbolism Drill: 1. Title page: Color Symbolism 2. What are your favorite colors? 3. Why? Objective: We will learn about the color symbolism in order to apply meaning to your mandala.

2 What do you associate these colors with? Red? Orange? Yellow? Green? Blue? Purple? Black? White?

3 Red: aggression, speed, love, intensity Orange: warmth, vibrancy, attention

4 Yellow: concentration, sickness, optimism Green: relaxation, nature, refreshment

5 Blue: calm, confident, cold, peace, sadness Purple: rare, luxurious, sophisticated, trendy

6 List your colors with a colon : Turquoise: Yellow: Magenta:

7 Look through the color symbolism packet to find meaning for your colors: (Or make up your own) Turquoise: Refreshing and sophistocated Yellow: Energizing, relieves depression Magenta: is volatile, optimistic, and affectionate, creating a feeling of satisfaction & self-respect, while being imaginative, outrageous, and innovative as well, all along. 11 Today’s Goals: 1.Get your Mandala page graded /20 2.Get your Radial Design page graded /20 3.Get a large sheet of paper and large circle. 4.Create a Quadrilateral or Bilateral artwork that is a radial design. 5.Add colors that have meaning to you. 6.Think about craftsmanship (neatness).

12 Clean Up PUT YOUR NAME ON YOUR ARTWORK. YOUR ARTWORKS GO IN THE LARGE DRAWERS THAT ARE LABELED WITH YOUR CLASS PERIOD. THE FRONT 4 TABLES ARE 1-4. THE BACK 4 TABLES ARE 5-8.
