The aim of the project is the development of a re-usable service infrastructure and various discipline-specific end-user solutions for the scientific communication and publication in research organizations. This includes the guarantee of long-term open access to heterogeneous scholarly materials (research data and publications) and the support of innovative ways of scientific and interdisciplinary collaboration. eSciDoc Solutions Kristina Büchner, Nicole Kondic Contact:Faces, ViRRKristina Büchner: buechner@mpdl.mpg.de PubMan Nicole Kondic: kondic@mpdl.mpg.de Max Planck Digital Library · Amalienstrasse 33 · 80799 München · www.mpdl.mpg.de June 2009 About PubMan Solution for publication data management („traditional“ publications, grey literature, suppl. material) with configurable workflows Facilitates Open Access to publication data & integration of research data Persistent identification of metadata records and full texts; Long-term archiving Re-use of data (e.g. webpages, annual reports, yearbook of the MPS) Main Functionalities Export to EndNote, BibTeX and XML and of reference lists in e.g. PDF in citation styles Quick search and advanced search (metadata and full texts) Organization search (including the history*) Researcher portfolio based on person ID Auto-suggest lists for author names, journals and subjects (based on controlled vocabulary) Fetch (meta)data from: arXiv, PubMed Central, BioMed Central* and SPIRES* Versioning of data records in the repository („working versions“ and intellectual revisions) Multiple Import from EndNote, WoS, RIS, BibTeX (incl. link to full text)* Provision of copyright information, licenses to full texts (e.g. CC), embargo time* Provision of access rights to full texts: public/private/restricted (for defined user groups)* RSS/ATOM feeds*, OAI-PMH* * Part of R5, planned for July 2009 Main Functionalities Browse whole collection or published albums Search based on the available attributes in whole collection or a selected album Create, edit, publish, withdraw or export an album (own sub collection) View statistics (number of visits, executed log-ins, executed exports, number of exported pictures) Main Functionalities Browse within the works of ViRR Detailed view of single pages Online editing interface of structural content METS export to DFG Viewer Configurable workspace (browse and edit) Project Partners With the following institutes the MPDL develops discipline specific extensions for PubMan.
