2.  Objective: Create a model of a substance that shows the molecules of a state of matter.

3. Objective: Create a model of a substance that shows the molecules of a state of matter  THE CHALLENGE:  1. Choose a state of matter to model: solid, liquid or gas.  2. Choose a type of substance: element, compound or mixture.  3. Create a model that shows the molecules of your substance.  4. Create and deliver a presentation.

4. Objective: Create a model of a substance that shows the molecules of a state of matter  THIS IS A GROUP PROJECT! With your assigned group you will: 1. Determine roles or jobs for each group member 2. Create a set of rules for your group members to follow 3. Collaborate to complete the project

Objective: Create a model of a substance that shows the molecules of a state of matter  GROUP ROLES:  Talk and think about the unique talents of your group members.  Is one of you very artistic? You may have found a creative director.  Maybe one of you is a good communicator? They could be your negotiator in case team members disagree.  Or perhaps someone has really great skills with computers. You may have found your research leader.  You decide what your team needs and clearly define your roles.

Objective: Create a model of a substance that shows the molecules of a state of matter  GROUP RULES:  What do you expect from each group member?  What will happen if someone is not contributing?  Envision your success.  Now visualize possible failure of the project.  What does your group need in order for your project (and presentation) to be successful?

8. Objective: Create a model of a substance that shows the molecules of a state of matter  YOUR PRESENTATION:  Given in person or by video  Given on the deadline  YOUR GROUP WILL DECIDE THE FORMAT OF YOUR PRESENTATION  Some possible formats: video, PowerPoint, poster board, play, song

Objective: Create a model of a substance that shows the molecules of a state of matter  YOUR PRESENTATION SHOULD INCLUDE THE INFORMATION:  What is your state of matter?  How does your model demonstrate your state?  What type of substance did you choose?  How does your model demonstrate this?  What are 3 real examples of your substance?

10. Objective: Create a model of a substance that shows the molecules of a state of matter  ALSO INCLUDE IN YOUR PRESENTATION:  Describe the movement of the molecules  Describe what happens to the volume of your substance when the container changes.  Describe what happens to the shape of your substance when its container changes.

11. Objective: Create a model of a substance that shows the molecules of a state of matter  TIMELINE:  Presentations will begin Monday, February 10 th. Models will also be due at that time.  You will have class time all week AND the weekend to complete your project.  Tick tock. Don‘t let your project be late!
