2 What makes world war two a significant event in Australia's history? Almost a million Australians, both men and women, served in World War 2. They fought against Germany and Italy in Europe, the Mediterranean and North Africa, as well as against Japan in south-east Asia and other parts of the Pacific. The Australian mainland came under attack for the first time, as Japanese aircraft bombed towns in north-west Australia and Japanese midget submarines attacked Sydney harbour. World war2 was also a significant event in Australia's history because before it Australia was separate countries and because it gave women jobs and more credit

3 Who was involved in world war 2? Dark Green: Allies before the attack on Pearl Harbour Light Green: Allied countries that entered the war after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour. Orange: Axis Powers World War II was primarily fought between two large alliances. The Axis Powers were a group of countries led by Nazi Germany and the Empire of Japan.The Allies, led by the United Kingdom and, until its defeat, France, were joined in the European theatre by the Soviet Union in June 1941 and by the United States in December 1941. In the Asia-Pacific theatre, the Allies were led by the Republic of China from the invasion of China by Japan in 1937 and then joined by the United States in 1941 after the attack on Pearl Harbour.

4 When and were did world war 2 event take place? World war 2 was fought between 1941 and 1945 It began in 1931 in Asia when Japan seized Manchuria. There was a full scale attack on China in 1937. In 1935, Italy attacked Ethiopia. The conflict in Europe began in 1938 after the Munich conference. Germany started to seize "German"lands like the Sudentland. The British and France joined the war after Poland was invaded in 1939.
