Increase TLC Increase in RV Decrease in peak expiratory flow e.g. asthma Increased airway resistance increased loss of pressure early small airway closure decreased FVC, FEV1 and increased RV

Restrictive disease Decreased TLC Decrease in RV e.g. fibrosis Decreased ability of lungs to expand during inspiration decreased FVC Only inspiration affected.
