HONOR THE KING Who will you vote for? Do you like what the President is doing? Do you agree with what the governor is doing? Who should be mayor? What should be our relationship with the government of the city, state and nation where we are citizens?

1 Peter 2:13-17 13 Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake, whether to the king as supreme, 14 or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men-- 16 as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bond servants of God. 17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

Submit (13-14) Submit = to place your self under They are in charge Like it or not Accept – Obey Are there laws you don't like? Speed limits, seat belts, taxes, abortion, etc. OBEY – like it or not (You might work to seek changes to the law. In the meantime, obey the law.)

They have power (14) Government leaders have the power to punish or to praise You can disobey and suffer punishment You can obey, live in peace – be praised 1,000 Points of Light – honor people who are making a difference, doing good

Don't abuse your freedom (16) Some use freedom to do evil Christians are free – to serve God Many claim their “RIGHT” I have the right of way. I have my rights. Don't use your right as a club to get your way over others

3 Commands (17) Honor all men Honor = show respect, treat with decency, show kindness toward ALL men = Christians, lost, drug dealers, worldly, prostitutes, sinners of all kinds ALL men = all races, cultures, languages, political views

3 Commands (17) Love the brotherhood Love = seek what is best for another Brotherhood = Christians, fellow believers, those in fellowship with God and us Galatians 6:10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

3 Commands (17) Honor the king Honor = respect and obey King = civil government official, president, prime minister, governor, mayor, judge, senator, school board, etc. We must, even if we disagree with their policy, show respect and obey the law.
