1 5 Summary Relationship between Color and Smell and Powers of Concentration Satsuki Kawakami Nao Kobayashi Risa Nakazawa Minori Yamazaki Mako Yuge 6 Assignment in the future ・ The temperature, the humidity, the brightness, degree of smell and health state of subject were not constant. So, we need to think of how to keep these conditions constant in detail. ・ We need to analyze the results of experiment. ・ We need to conduct experiment about synergistic effects with using grapefruit. ・ We want to seek for color and smell which have an influence on concentration. 1 The Aim of This Study To make circumstances more suitable for our learning, we analyze the relation “between color and concentration” and seek for the best combination of “color and smell”. 2 EXPERIMENT Ⅰ (Relationship between Color and Powers of Concentration) The definition The number of answers is large The percentage of correct answers is high ・ We used calculation questions based on “the examination paper of Kraepelin test” ・ We used a questionnaire by subjectivity.(“VAS”) Figure 1 A part of calculation questions 【 Methods of the experiment 】 1.We cover desks with color papers.(red, blue, yellow, green, white) 2. Subjects solve calculation questions on those desks for 2 minutes. 3. Subjects complete questionnaires. 【 Result 】 ● Bar graph and line graph is the average of total answers and the average rate of correct answers rate. Figure3 A number of answer and the percentage of correct answers ( Color ) 3 EXPERIMENT Ⅱ (Relationship between Smell and Concentration) 【 Methods of the experiment 】 We made the room odorless or full of some smells coffee, lavender, grapefruit, Subjects answer questions for two minutes. Afterwards, they also answered questionnaires. This experiment was done by 23 students. 【 Result of experiment 】 Figure 4 A number of answers and Percentage of correct answer ( Scent ) 4 EXPERIMENT Ⅲ (Synergy of color and smell) 【 methods of the experiment 】 ● Based on the results of experiment 1 and 2, we carried out experiments of synergy with the following combination. (A)blue×coffee (B)blue×lavender (C)red×coffee (D)red×lavender ● The process of experiment is the same as the experiment 1. This experiment was conducted in 42 students. 【 Result of experiment 】 Figure 5 A number of answers and the percentage of correct answers ( Color and Smell ) ・ Regardless of smell, concentration of blue is the highest and that of red is the lowest. ・ But, influence on concentration of color is larger than that of smell because of appearing the difference of concentration by using color with smell. ・ When we use blue, regardless of smell, we get a good results. So, blue have a major effect on concentration. But, in case of only blue the concentration is better than that in case of blue and smell,so we can’t recognized synergy in this experiment. Figure 6 A number of answers and the percentage of correct answers about blue ● Result of the number of answers ● “High is blue×lavender ” The percentage of correct answers “High is blue×coffee” ▼ The number of answers and the percentage of correct answers of red were lower than the blue. A degree of subject concentration of blue×coffee was higher than other 4 patterns. ・ The smell of coffee or grapefruit made subject’s concentration high. ・ The smell of the lavender was the lowest except for the odorless. ・ The degree of subjective concentration of smell of grapefruit and taste are the most higher. ▼ Concentration The highest is blue The lowest is red ● Subjective concentration and preference of color, blue is the highest of five colors. Figure 2 A part of questionnaires High concentration
