What is a Differentiated Classroom? Meets the needs of all individual learners & helps students become more independent learners Makes sure all students meet the skills & knowledge areas Plans lessons according to students’ knowledge levels, interests, & effective ways of learning

How is a Differentiated Classroom run? Lessons are reflective of the teacher’s best understanding of each student’s understanding, skill, & growth As student grows, so will the lessons Lessons should be challenging (a little above their level) for the student in order to promote a support system for success & growth

What is the Parent’s Role? Come to school and conference with the teacher giving insight about your child Become a partner with the teacher to help child grow Trust teacher has best interests of child at heart Understand that every child is different & they develop at different paces

What is the Parent’s Role? Work for child should be challenging, so support teacher at home by fostering child’s growth & skills Most importantly… ▫“help the teacher understand the child’s development and interests so that together they can be effective catalysts for growth.” (Tomlinson, 41)
