Rules for V–ing 1.In general: V+ ing drink → drinking; sing → singing Peter is reading; Susan isn’t eating 2. Verbs ending in –e: write → writing; dance → dancing They are having lunch; Sam isn’t driving 3. monosyllable verbs (C+V+C) swim → swimming; run → running We aren’t sitting; Tom is getting up

USES of the PRESENT CONTINUOUS 1.Activities we are doing: now, at the moment, at present… Pat is having a shower now 2. Temporary situations: this week, today, this month… Dad always drives to work, but he is walking this week

Make affirmative sentences 1: (play) They are playing the drums
