Louisiana Purchase(1803) In 1803 the United States purchased Louisiana territories from France for nearly $15,000 (60 million francs) Lewis and Clark began the Westward movement when they explored the Louisiana territories. They attempted to observe the exchanged resources in the newly founded West.

Missouri Compromise(1820) Congress passes a series of measures to determine whether slavery should or should not be abolished. Maine becomes a free state and Missouri becomes a slave state. The rest of the Louisiana territories were split in half. North of the border were considered free, south of the border were considered slave states.

Election of 1824 An election between the favored Andrew Jackson and John Adams. Known to be controversial because of it’s “corrupt bargain” effect.

Election of 1828 A repeat election between Andrew Jackson and John Adams. This time around Jackson wins the election with his call to the people. His call to the people inspired more people to get out and vote for him.
