Module Aims This module focuses on issues relating to the performance, management and growth of a business or social enterprises. Using a blend of theory and case studies, students will gain an understanding of how to evaluate the growth potential of a business and how to capture that potential. Issues such as performance (including operational implications); systems; IT and e-business and resource and people management through periods of growth will also be explored in a range of business and social enterprise contexts.

Learning Outcomes LO 1 Analyse and evaluate the growth potential of a business or social enterprise, identifying strengths and weaknesses in the organisations management and sphere of operation. Approach A combination of lectures and interactive workshops. You will be expected to fully participate in the discussions and activities. Students are required to manage a tutorial and present to the group on a subject of their choosing. They need to engage the rest of the group in an activity.

Assessment 2000 word Diagnostic Report evaluating the strengths and weakness of an organisations operation and performance (50%). 2000 word Development Plan detailing how to take the enterprise forward (50%) Wickham, P. (2006: 5-12)
