A trait is a characteristic of a living things. These traits can either be inherited or acquired. An inherited trait is a characteristic that is received directly from the parents. It is coded for in the D.N.A. An acquired trait is a characteristic that is learned or gained by experience or circumstance.

How many parents are involved in each. How is the genetic information exchanged? How varied is the genetic material from parent to offspring? How do the inherited structural traits of parents compare with their offspring? What are the advantages of both?
