Sentences vs. Fragments Sentences contain both a subject and a verb. Fragments do not contain both a subject and a verb.

Nouns Proper Nouns – Specific people, places, & things Plural Nouns – They represent more than one Possessive – Shows ownership

Verbs Linking Verbs – To Be (6 forms) Helping Verbs – Additional verb that helps show action or time Irregular Verbs – Don’t follow typical patterns

Punctuation Periods –At the end of a sentence –After initials –Decimal points in numbers Exclamation Points –To show surprise –To show strong feeling
