1 Abbey school walkabout Year 5 pupils from Abbey went on a walk around Shaftsbury on the 3 rd of July. Here’s the route we took.

2 We started at saint James church.  We walked from our school (the abbey) to st James church next door. We looked around the grave yard and thought about the sights, sounds and smells that we could find. Some people did rubbings of the engraved letters on grave stones. We also thought about the space of the area and what might make it better.

3 Next raspberry lane… It was cool and shaded It was calm and quiet There weren’t any cars around There were big walls either side of the lane which made it secret and hidden There were pretty flowers on the walls and gave a strong scent. We liked it because……..

4 Across st johns hills… Its very steep!!! It displays lots of beautiful nature. Cars come down it quite fast so be careful when crossing it or walking up or down it. Things about it. dangers

5 Down Tanyard lane….. There were some roses at the top which smelt really nice and lovely. There were old fashioned houses, well some of them were. What did we see and what did we like?

6 Saint James street On saint James street there are lots of old houses There is also a lovely little park on it There aren’t usually many cars at midday. Our school lives on the end.

7 Slide Swings Play trail Climbing frame Monkey bars Sea sore It was fresh and made you feel free There was a fresh smell of meadow flowers The wind was cool You were protected by the trees. Playing equipment St. James park What it felt like

8 St James park Stinging nettles Other people Steep hill Bikes, skateboards, scooters Better disabled access Playing equipment for disabled people A marked out football pitch dangers improvements Come and see, do you agree?

9 Kingsman lane It was surrounded by houses It had beautiful flowers It was a quiet lane It had a smooth road It displayed lots of lovely nature

10 Alpaca field They were fluffy alpacas They were beautiful creatures we are so lucky to have them near our school they were enclosed with a wire fence There were lots of them We walked around the bumpy path Farm house Other animals alpacas surroundings

11 Allotments There were lots of vegetables and fruit Loads of space Lots of fresh smells And a fab view Don’t pick anything These are the allotments

12 Millennium green We walked up Radcliff's garden to millennium green Beautiful nature There were juicy wild strawberries that we got to try!!! There were apple trees and pear trees There was a deck at the end with a fantastic view Millennium green

13 Finally we got back to school……

14 AND MADE THIS!!! (the power point!!!!)
