1 To enjoy your stay: Seoul Destinations 1. Gyeongbokgung Palace Built in 1395, Gyeongbokgung stands as the most grandest of all five palaces of the Chosun dynasty. With Gwanghwamun as the main gate of the palace and Cheongwadae (official residence of the president) near the back gate, visit to Gyeongbokgung Palace offers an excellent insight into Korean culture and history. Tours are available in Korean, English, Japanese, and Chinese. N Seoul Tower As the symbol of Seoul, the tower provides one of the best panoramic views of the city. Located on top of Namsan Mountain, visitors can use the cable car, walk, or take the bus. Bukchon Hanok Village The “hanoks” at Bukchon village is a residential area where visitors are immersed to traditional Korean housing. Some private homes are open to visitors as guest houses, tea shops, or workshops for lacquering, knotting, embroidery, and wearing hanbok. Changdeokgung Palace and Biwon Changdeokgung is one of the most well-preserved palaces from the Chosun dynasty and is a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997. Tour around Biwon, a secret garden that was only open to the Royal Family and Palace Women, is highly recommended. Tours are available in Korean, English, Japanese, and Chinese. Insadong Insadong is a unique place that displays various forms of traditional culture and crafts. Dongdaemun Area Dongdaemun which means the Great East Gate, is famous for featuring numerous retail and wholesale stores. While observing the remnants of the gate wall, visitors can also shop or visit the Dongdaemun History Museum near the DDP (Dongdaemun Design Plaza). Visitors can also visit Myeongdong Cathedral or walk to Chung Gye Cheon, a natural and artificial stream that runs through the middle of the city. Hongdae Hongdae represents youth and a vibrant nightlife. Clubs, vintage shops, and street performances attract students and visitors. Itaewon Designated as the first special tourist zone, Itaewon is renowned for its trendy bars, clubs, restaurants, and shops.
