Graphite Graphite is made up of carbon atoms. Chemical formula: C It is an allotrope of carbon. Ex. Graphite vs. Diamond Graphite has the same chemical composition as Diamond, the molecular structure of Graphite and Diamond is entirely different.

2016-3-9 What do we use daily that contains graphite? PENCILS! The "lead" filling in pencils is in fact composed of a mixture of graphite and clay. If it was real lead, it would be very dangerous.
