MENUS 1.Get into your walking Groups. 2. Now find a tent/food partner from your walking group that has similar tastes as you. In a group of seven there will be cooking/tent group consisting of 4 and3 or 2,2,3..

POINTS TO REMEMBER 1. Weight-Remember, you have to carry everything! 2. Size-Remember you have to carry everything and fit everything in your rucksack 3. Packaging/container-no tins, no glass 4. Type of food product i.e dried, vacuum, fresh, frozen,tinned.Think about the weather on the day! What do I mean by this? 5. What not to use! 6. What will I be cooking on?

Menu Using the template create a menu for the following in a word document. Add the name of your group colour and individual names of eating group. Create a DofE folder and save. You must state how many calories for each food type including drinks. Guide Lines 1. Day one-Lunch - (sandwich, crisps, snacks etc) 2. Day One –Evening Meal- A meal must be cooked. 3. Day Two-Breakfast- Something hot must be consumed. 4. Day Two- Lunch- Sandwich etc 5. You must use at least 3500-4000 calories a day. 6. Include all snacks.

REMEMBER 1. You will be carrying all food with you. (weight) 2. Food will need to be of the type that it will stay fresh even in hot weather conditions (vacuum packed). Don’t make a ham sandwich on Day 1 for Day two lunchtime as you will get food poisoning.Day 2 lunch will need preparing in the morning of Day 2. 3. If frying you will need oil etc. 4. You will use a trangia to cook with. Is your food suitable for this type of cooking? Will it stick? 5. It must be sufficient calories required. You will be using a lot of energy! 6. Menus must be word processed and a copy uploaded onto eDofE under expedition. The assessor will need a copy of your menu.
