2. What is a Globe? A globe is a three-dimensional scale model of Earth or other spheroid celestial body such as a planet, star, or moon. The earliest known globe was constructed by the Greek scholar Crates of Mallus in modern-day Turkey around 150 BCE. The Unisphere, in Queens, New York, at 120 feet (36.6 meters) in diameter, is the world's largest global structure.

3. What is a map? A map is a visual representation of an area—a symbolic depiction highlighting relationships between elements of that space such as objects, regions, and themes. Cartography, or map-making is the study, and often practice of crafting representations of the Earth upon a flat surface, and one who makes maps is called a cartographer. There are many different types of maps. For example, there are world maps, country maps, state maps, county maps, city maps, and street maps. What other types of maps can you think of?

4. What is the purpose of using a map? Although most commonly used to depict geography, maps may represent any space, real or imagined. Road maps are perhaps the most widely used maps today, and form a subset of navigational maps, such as hiking and bicycling maps. Navigation is the art and science of determining one's position so as to safely travel to a desired destination. When have you used a map?
