Current Situation 19 August 2009 Total cases : 26 No death Male : 12Female : 14 Age range : 4-58 Type of detection – 4 cases at air / land border crossing – 22 cases by Clinic/Hospital and Hotline report Mode of transmission –20 cases imported –6 cases local transmission

Political commitment Prime Minister’s office: –Transparency –Mobilize resource and technical information –Cross government pandemic preparedness and response

Surveillance & Response Border screening (Quarantine officers) –Air, land and water way Filling declaration form and hand over the health information form Zero reporting of routine data Event-based surveillance – via hotline, now 24/7 ILI sentinel surveillance – increased sites and number of samples tested sARI surveillance Febrile disease study and SISEA Rapid Response Teams : 1200 staffs –Trained –Medical supplies (Lab kits, PPE, Medicines etc) –Funding and Technical support –24 hours and 7 days a week

Mass education to public and health professional Press releases (CDC/MoH website) and Ministerial interviews Mass education: –TV spots broadcasting since April 2009 –Poster dissemination to health and schools –Dissemination to inter-sectoral National, Provincial and local authorities Hotline 24 hours, 7 days a week Participate at social Mobilization events Manage rumors
