4 Prerequisites This presentation assumes that you have viewed the Alma functional sessions, in particular, the Resource Management content

5 User Roles Catalog Manager or Operator may add and edit local extensions to bibliographic records share bibliographic records in the Institution Zone with the Network Zone perform routine cataloging activities such as updating and saving bibliographic records in the Network Zone

6 Objectives By the end of this training session, you will be able to: Update bibliographic records in need of correction or to add local extensions Link/share bib records found in the Institution Zone (IZ) with bib records found also in the Network Zone (NZ) Copy records from NZ to IZ Add a bibliographic record when none exists Run the linking job Share records found initially only in the IZ with the NZ

27 Copy Cataloging In Network, records may be Edited Linked Copied Shared Out of Network, import records directly into Alma from an external database for copy cataloging

28 Copy Cataloging - Workflows Two options available depending on preferred workflow 1.Import directly and save to NZ, copy to IZ and add inventory, link to Network record 2.Import and save to IZ and add inventory before sharing with Network Note: saving to the Network uses normalization rules created in NZ; saving to the Institution uses normalization rules created in IZ
