COB Integration and Test Nov. 15, 2010 Roy Esplin Mike Watson Monte Frandsen

Integration and Test Flow 2

Functional Test Setup 3 COB12-Ch. A/D Computer Detectors and dispersed image of point source 12 spectra (one for each detector) Poor Focus Good Focus Area Within Dashed Lines Purged with LN2 Wavelength (um) Interferometer OAP Steering Mirror Pinhole Translatable Platform Lens Simulated Telescope Exit Pupil (Exit pupil is only 1-inch in diameter)

Responsivity, Noise and Vignetting Test Setup For responsivity measurements use setup as shown For Vignetting cover edges of exit pupil For noise tests Cover cold aperture inside COB (Zilt background noise) Cool exit pupil to -10ºC and place LN2 trap in front of exit pupil (Optical cavity noise) 4 COB Lock-in Amp A/D Computer Simulated Telescope Exit Pupil (Exit pupil is only 1-inch in diameter) Area Within Dashed Lines Purged with LN2 Blackbody OAP Steering Mirror Adjustable- diameter aperture Translatable Platform Chopper Wheel

Altitude & Enclosure Temperature Test 5 12-Ch. A/D Computer 12 spectra (one for each detector) Dashed lines define area purged with LN2 Interferometer OAP Steering Mirror Pinhole Translatable Platform Lens Simulated Telescope Exit Pupil Test chamber with ~ 6 inch diameter window (Big enough to see alignment cube.)

COB Vibration Testing Vibration testing Use SDL shake table facility Apply random vibration inputs to base plate beneath vibration isolators Perform sine sweeps before and after random vibration Mount COB to baseplate with additional mass simulators Test CCPS electronics directly on vibration table if space available 6 Mass simulators Vibration Isolators Vibration Table
