12 Shelters A place where animals can stay safe.

13 Roots take in water and nutrients from the soil. They also keep a plant in its place. Leaves take in carbon dioxide from the air. They use energy from the Sun to change carbon dioxide and water into food for the plant. Stems carry food and water throughout the plant. Stems also keep a plant upright so leaves can get sunlight.
