3 What is College Credit Plus?

4 CCP provides college-ready students in grades 7- 12 the opportunity to earn high school and college credit before high school graduation. College courses can be taken: –At a high school with an approved high school teacher –At a high school with a Sinclair faculty member –At any Sinclair location or online with a Sinclair faculty member

5 What is College Credit Plus? Students may be eligible to enroll in a maximum of 30 credit hours annually College courses can be taken during the Summer, Fall, or Spring terms Courses must be non-remedial and cannot be religious based Courses must apply towards a degree or certificate CCP courses that are 3 credit hours = 1 high school Carnegie unit.

12 Steps to Get Started at Sinclair

13 Students who completed the CCP Application Process in 2015-16: – Do NOT need to reapply to Sinclair – Must complete the Intent to Participate form – May register for courses at Sinclair based on current academic eligibility CURRENT SINCLAIR STUDENT

14 Students must complete the ONLINE Sinclair College Credit Plus application – TWO STEP PROCESS 1.Apply @ apply.Sinclair.edu/ccp 2.Submit the signed Parent/Guardian School Authorization Form NEW SINCLAIR COLLEGE STUDENT

15 Am I Eligible to Participate? English / Social Sciences Completion of two units of College Prep English with a minimum of a B average, OR An ACT score of > 18 in English or SAT score >430 in English, OR Score college-ready on Sinclair’s ACCUPLACER placement test in English. Math & Science Completion of Algebra II with a minimum of a B average, OR An ACT score of > 22 in Math or SAT score > 520 in Math, OR Score college-ready on Sinclair’s ACCUPLACER placement test in Math.

17 Important Things to Consider….. CCP courses are REAL college courses for REAL college credit Dropping courses different than high school College Rigor – Out of class time REQUIRED!! College Responsibilities- There is much more to being a college student than just academics. Poor Performance/grades has consequences Choose classes that work toward a degree or certificate
