Sections face similar challenges Key challenge: Need to bridge the gap from a member to active engaging member –IEEE Fellows, Senior Members, Section Directors, Retired Members Leadership vacuum A core group of longtime volunteers manages routine tasks; difficult for them to have enough time to undertake strategic activities too Lack of organized, standardized approaches to connecting new or relocating members to the local sections. Unlike academia, industry support for IEEE member participation is minimal.
