We would like to present the results of our group research work. The theme of our project is “English in our life”. The aim of our research work is to find out what role the English language plays in teenager’s lives. First, we have prepared a questionnaire which included 7 questions. Then we have interviewed our classmates. After that, we have summed up the answers and made a group presentation. We have interviewed 13 pupils. And we have got the following results. The Portrait of a Learner of English A pupil who learns English in our class has been doing it for 7 years. He learns it because he wants to use English in his future job and his parent want him to do it. An average pupil learning English in our class thinks it is possible to learn English at school and at home and the most effective methods of learning English are reading and translating texts and having vocabulary drills. The English language is difficult to learn for pupils. The most difficult part of learning English is intonation. But in general the pupils interviewed think they know English well.
