3 Point of the Cold War An Iron Curtain has descended, 1946 Truman Doctrine provided aid to any country fighting communism. Marshall Plan –“Our policy is directed not against any country or doctrine but against hunger, poverty, desperation, and chaos.

4 The Early Years Division of Germany and Berlin led to increased attitudes against Communism Berlin Blockade –This standoff, which lasted a year, was an attempt to starve Berlin. Airlifts alleviated this possibility.

5 American Response Containment –We need to contain Communism at all costs. Several foreign conflicts result, but no nuclear conflict. Constant increase in nuclear technology.
