3 Some numbers 798: Total number of CLE courses/spaces (as of November 20) – Includes courses created but never used 159: WebCT courses migrated to CLE (as of 10/30/09) 40: Courses using SIS Enrollment (as of 10/30/09) 4890: Total # of users that have logged into CLE since launch 2910: Total # of users who logged in during November

4 Infrastructure and Integration Successful Moodle implementation with 3 rd party (Remote-Learner) Authentication – Successful GALEN Account implementation Enrollment integration – Successful deployment of SIS-based enrollment Fall 2009 Synchronized enrollments based on SIS enrollment data – Spreadsheet Upload Enrollment in beta test New CLE Theme and Category Themes – Implemented new overall CLE theme to match Library branding – Category-based themes (e.g., School of Medicine) Portfolio – Successful Mahara e-portfolio implementation – Including single sign-on from the CLE

5 User Support Consultation Support from the CIT Staff – 1233 (in-person, telephone, and email; Sept 2008 - Nov 2009) CLE Support Center – Extensive CIT-authored guides and tutorials Workshops – Building your First CLE Course (online) – Advanced workshops on assessments, gradebook management, groups and groupings (280 trained; July 2008 – Nov 2009) CLE Users Group Meets monthly; agenda driven by CLE users CLE Tips and Tricks Podcast New episode every Tuesday; 30 episodes to date

7 New Features and Enhancements Public Guest Access Enabled – Courses can now be made available to public users New Moodle blocks – OU Blog and OU Wiki: Community-developed modules that provide new features – UCSF Library block: Created by Library staff to provide courses with important Library links and information. Feature Request/Issue Tracking – CLE users can now request new features and report issues (32 requests rec’d as of 11/24)

9 Extending CLE Functionality* Moodle Extensions – Takes advantage of modularity through plug-ins and blocks. – Quick Win potential. – Does not require modifications to Moodle Core. Moodle Core Functionality – Resource intensive; requires extensive programming resources and ongoing development commitment. Integration of external systems – Extending beyond learning management functionality (Moodle) *See handout

10 CLE Winter 2010 Release Upgrade to Moodle 1.9.7 – Currently running Moodle 1.9.5 Upgrade Book module – Latest version is group/groupings aware – Based on user-submitted feature request Enable Unlimited Grades – Allows for grades over 100% – Should be enabled at an off-peak time – Based on user-submitted feature request
