Sense Verbs * We use sense verbs + like + noun in descriptions. * We use: Feel / look / Smell / Sound / taste + noun to say how something appears to us ( fazer um comentário) E.G. 1- The singer sounded like a cat.

*E.G. 2- This place looks like a dump. *E.G. 3- Mmmm! It smells like coffee!

The girl is wearing old fashioned clothes. She feels like an old lady. She looks like an old lady.

E.G. 4- This drink tastes like strawberries. Oral Exercise: 1- There is a loud noise in the sky. (a storm) It sounds like a storm 2- You see smoke above a forest. ( a fire) It looks like a fire.

3- Mmm! My maid is cooking lunch. (fried eggs) It smells like fried eggs. 4- It feels really hot today. (Summer) It feels like Summer. 5- A: Have you seen my new jacket? B: What does it...................? Look like A: It’s short and black.

6- This bedroom has a bad smelling. (a wet dog) This bedroom smells like a wet dog. 7- You make a good comment. (good idea) It sounds like a good idea. 8- The singer is terrible. (singing cat) He sounds like a singing cat. 9- The sky is grey. (it’s going to rain) It looks like it’s going to rain. Now go to your student’s book page 11 ex 5
