3 Flipped Classroom WHAT IS A FLIPPED CLASSROOM? -Students view a video segment at home for direct instruction -Problem/Project Base learning, real-world situational practices, and individualized instruction within the classroom -Collaboration

4 Flipped Classroom HOW DOES A FLIPPED CLASSROOM WORK? -Students can access the flipped video through a LMS system (Schoology), a website creator link (Weebly), or a slideshow/keynote presentation -If students do not have access to the internet, what do you do? -Notes and direct instruction incorporated at home -Make sure the video has Q & A (educannon) for homework, or blog postings associated with the video segment -Begin the next lesson with video discussions/blog, small- group instructional practice problems, ect. -After, students can incorporate real-world situational practices within small group instruction

5 Flipped Classroom WHY SHOULD WE USE A FLIPPED CLASSROOM DESIGN? -Students receive direct instruction at home through a video segment -Students can practice problems at home during the video segment -Used for collaborative work through small group instruction -Used to have students develop deeper understandings within the subject area -Individualized instruction -Students drive the pace… a.) If students understand, more challenging problems, project, and enrichment b.) If students do not understand, practice and application

Touchcast -Creates an interactive presentation that mixes video with web content -App lets you record a video and overlay elements such as web pages, maps, photos, Twitter streams, polls, quizzes and more -Users watching the video can click on these multimedia elements and interact with them while the video continues to play. -This app is simple to use and can be used across all subject matters. -Use Touchcast for: Interactive historical timeline Tutorial videos Reports, biographies, book trailers Use it to showcase learning about a topic Touchcast in ActionTouchcast in Action – Are you on Vacation, cause I sure am! Padlet -Easy to use website that incorporates an online bulletin board -Padlet users can pose open-ended questions and elicit multiple student responses—ideal for posing document- based questions using primary sources. -Can incorporate video’s, slideshow presentations, URL website links -Great for beginning class review Richard Byrne – Padlet in the Classroom Airplay – How to use padlet

14 Flipped Classroom Create Your Own Touchcast or EduCanon Video -While working in groups and using the resources on the slideshow presentation, create your own touchcast or educanon video! -To be able to use touchcast or educanon, you must register within the given website or app. -Pick a partner and see if you can connect to the touchcast or educanon video segment you created.
