2. Relation to water Our topic will cover the history, the types, and the current use, for bottled water.

3. Why we chose our topic Not only did we know little about the history of water, but the topic was very simple.

4. History of bottled water Transporting water in various vessels has existed since the earliest human civilizations, but true bottled water did not exist commercially until 1622, at the Holy Well bottling plant in England. The first commercially distributed water in America was bottled and sold by Jackson’s Spa in Boston in 1767. Bottled water was often used instead of a municipal water supply, because the water supply would often be contaminated. In 1973, DuPont engineer Nathaniel Wyeth patented polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles, the first plastic bottle to be able to withstand the pressure of carbonated liquids.[9] Today, PET plastic has replaced glass as the preferred material for single-serving bottled water containers due to its light weight and resistance to breaking.DuPontNathaniel Wyeth[9]

5. Uses for bottled water Bottled Water is commonly used in circumstances where existing water sources are polluted or otherwise inaccessible. Many athletes drink bottled water to keep hydrated. It’s also used by runners in a marathon or in a bike race for it’s ease of transportation. A person may carry a bottle of water during a hot day to hydrate themselves.

6. Plastic Pollution Plastic water bottles contribute significantly to the pollution of the environment by plastic. They are tossed out by drivers where they litter the sides of highways. They wash up on shorelines, in rivers, and in ponds.

7. Popular Water Brands A few notable bottled water brands include: Dasani, Aquafina, Fiji, Smart Water, Evian, Nestle, Ozarka, and Perrier.
