Operator, promoter -Operator: DNA segment where an inhibitor protein binds and stops transcription from happening - Promoter: DNA segment that recognizes RNA polymerase and lets transcription happen 2. Gene, genome Gene: segment of DNA that codes for 1 protein Genome: all the hereditary information in an organism 3. Intron, exon Introns: Get left out because they don’t code for anything Exons: Get left in because they code for a protein 4. Gene, Homeotic gene Gene: a segment of DNA that codes for a protein Homeotic gene: Regulatory gene that decide where things go 5. Carcinogen, mutagen, oncogene Causes cancer Causes mutation Gene that causes cancer
