3 Internal Feedback is what you 'feel' about your own performance and information received as a direct result of producing a movement External Feedback is information that you receive about your performance. This can be visual, verbal, OR written. Feedback Feedback is information you receive about your performance and is essential if you are to improve or learn new skills. It can come from various sources and will help you as you set performance goals. Positive feedback is best, provided it is clear, concise and given immediately after the performance. 4 Feedback

5 Feedback - Pros Can be given immediately after performance If given in correct manner (Positive -> Negative -> Corrective -> Positive) it can be a positive experience Essential part of skill development Can be both qualitative and quantitative –Numerical measurement as well as opinion It allows player to devise a T.P. based on perceived weakness

6 Feedback - Cons Too much feedback confuses performer Feedback may come from an inexperienced source – gives the performer poor or inaccurate information Source of Feedback must be knowledgeable and impartial (unbiased) Observer may miss actual source of problem rather than just providing basic knowledge e.g. The problem is specifically footwork of OHC instead of OHC overall. Feedback may be contradicted if given by 2 sources
