Correlation between People’s Behaviors in Cyber World and Their Geological Position Lixiong Chen Jan 24 th, 2009
2
Observation A cyber social network might be centralized or highly distributed w.r.t. its members’ geological positions: e.g. (1) McGill Network on Facebook. (2) Organization of people sharing the same interest. An event occurs in position A may arouse more attention of people from a distant place (position B) than that of locals.
3
A Reasonable Guess Different people from different regions may react differently to various events; Interactions between members may vary due to the type of the cyber organization they belong to; In some degree, people’s behaviors in the cyber world are inconsistent to place they reside, but correlation probably exists.
4
Methodology Description of people’s behaviors in the cyber world can be obtained using social computing methods; Google Map can provide geological information; One can design a table in which each entry is associated with set of parameters (e.g. distance, frequency of interaction etc.) Conclude it in a mathematical model.
