1 Workshop for Parents SCCS Library Media Center Rebecca Battistoni, Librarian SY 2012 - 2013

2 What are Tumblebooks?  An online collection of over 300 animated, talking picture books, 200 iPad compatible books, 23 Read-Along Chapter Books, 160 TumbleGames, 50 non-fiction books, and 50 videos!  Subscription paid for by SCCS for teachers, students and parents to use at school and home  Helps with literacy, fluency, reading comprehension, decoding and vocabulary

3 Some additional information…  Books in English AND Spanish!  Tumble quizzes to check for understanding  Can be accessed anywhere there is Internet  Perfect for grades PreK – 4 th grade  Username: sccoop  Password: books

4 Let’s Get Started!  Go to the website www.tumblebooks.com  Click on the first box “TumbleBook Library ebBooks for e-kids”

5 Please Sign In!  Use the following to access the site: Username: sccoop Password: books

6 Choose options!  Begin a TumbleSearch; choose which option you want: All Title Languages Author Publisher Illustrator Reading Level (Grade, Lexile, or AR) Subjects Books with video

7 Start Reading!  Click “View Online”  It may take a few minutes to load your tumblebook; please be patient!  Remember to turn on the volume  Enjoy!

8 Books with Video!  New feature  National Geographic Video Clips are aligned with books to match topics and content areas for a full multi-media experience  Example: Pair “The Quest to Digest” story with “The Digestive System” Video
