1 Hidrolic System

3 First Rule of Hydraulics
A Hydraulic system consists of a closed container filled with a hydraulic fluid such as oil. On each side of the container is a piston. When you exert a downwards force on the piston on the one side of container it causes the piston on the other side to move upwards.

4 Input and Output The piston that is pushed down is called the input piston and the piston that moves up is called the output piston. All hydraulic systems work on this principle. Examples; Car lift Frontloader Jack Car breaks

5 Second rule of Hydraulics
When the area of the bases of the pistons is changed, it is called the second rule of hydraulics. If the area of the output base is twice as much as the the area of the input base. This means that the outout Force will be twice as big as the input force. If the output force is 100N, the input force will be 50N.

6 Second rule.

7 Mechanical advantage Just like you determine the mechanical advantage at gears and pulleys, we can determine it at hydraulic systems with the following formula; Formula: MA = Load ÷ Effort

8 Mechanical advantage If the force of the output piston of a hydraulic system is 15000N and the effort is 5000N, the mechanical advantage will be 3.
