Time Line 1904 The Abbey Theatre opens in Dublin. Anton Chekhov dies Harley Granville - directs Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” and the “Winter’s Tale” at the Savoy Theatre 1912 Sir John Gielgud plays "Hamlet" in London. Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein's first collaboration, "Oklahoma!" opens on Broadway. It became famous for its story of humble American farmers and for its groundbreaking choreography by Agnes de Mille. Tennessee Williams's first play, "The Glass Menagerie," is produced on Broadway. 1945 1943 1934
