2. Bill Russel Wins 6 th Championship! Bill Russel, a 6’10, 220 pound center for the Boston Celtics, won his 6 th championship ring, on April 24. His team beat the Los Angeles Lakers in 6 games. Russel also won the MVP award that year and made the all-NBA first team that year. It was another remarkable season in Russel’s career. “Concentration and mental toughness are the margins of victory”, stated Russel. Russel plans on winning more NBA championships and going on to be the first African-American coach in the NBA.
